KIRBYVILLE R-VI SCHOOL DISTRICT

Title 1

Welcome to Title I!

What is Title I?

Title I, of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards and assessments. Schools in which children from low-income families make up at least 40 percent of enrollment are eligible to use Title I funds for schoolwide programs that serve all children in the school. The purpose of the program is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education.

What is RTI?

Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tier approach to the early identification and support of students with learning needs. The RTI process begins with high-quality instruction and universal screening of all children in the general education classroom. Struggling learners are provided with interventions to accelerate their rate of learning. Progress is closely monitored to determine the duration of interventions.  Kirbyville Elementary follows the RTI model by providing SPIN (Special Provisions for Individual Needs) at specific times during the day for kindergarten through third grade students.

The K-5 English Language Arts Missouri Learning Standards: Grade-Level Expectations define the knowledge and skills students need in each grade level. These grade-level standards are aligned to the Show-Me Standards.
